The Lang Lang International Music Foundation was set up by acclaimed Chinese pianist Lang Lang in 2008 and focuses on music education for the youths of today, and cross-cultural exchange between young people.
The foundation is dedicated to finding new ways to educate, motivate and inspire children with music, and also to support their musical talents. Its members truly believe that music is a universal language and can open opportunities for communication, understanding and acceptance. They strive to ignite a passion for music in youths so that they can be leaders in bridging cultural gaps and helping to unite local and global communities.
Leszek Lukas Barwinski is the CEO of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation and Bruno Wang has recently been elected to the 11-person Board of Directors.
The foundation seeks to design programmes that are sustainable, scalable, measurable and meaningful. It develops partnerships with respected and trusted nonprofit and community organisations and seeks financial support from respected individuals, corporations, and foundations that share our vision.
Among its programmes are Keys of Inspiration, a school partnership programme, Young Scholars, designed to identify and support talented young pianists, 101 Pianists, a unique social musical event creating a joyous and magnified sound, and Allianz Junior Music Camp, now in its fourth year and held so far in Munich, Barcelona and Vienna.
Lang Lang’s many charitable efforts led to the launch of the foundation. The Financial Times has described Lang Lang as “evangelical in his efforts to spread the popularity of classical music”.
