Actress and global philanthropist Ms Goldie Hawn will be the inaugural speaker for the Pureland Series for China Exchange on Tuesday 27th September at 6.30-7.30pm in London.
Ms Hawn will speak on mindfulness training and its potential to support children’s social and emotional development, and to help them thrive in the modern world.
She is a devoted advocate of youth education programmes which support life-enhancing strategies for wellbeing, having launched The Hawn Foundation in 2003 with a mission “to help young minds by nurturing resilience, hope, and optimism”.
The Foundation was established when Ms Hawn became alarmed by increases in school violence, youth depression and suicide, and the persistent failure of the education system to help children cope with increasingly stressful lives.
Its research and work draws on neuroscience, positive psychology, mindful awareness training and its impact on children, to create education resources and, in particular, its signature programme MindUP.
This teaches social and emotional learning skills that link cognitive neuroscience, positive psychology and mindful awareness training, using a brain-centric approach.
This event is the first in a new series organised by the Pureland Foundation in collaboration with China Exchange, the forum set up in 2015 by entrepreneur Sir David Tang as a platform for cultural debate and the exchange of ideas between East and West.
The Pureland Series will be a programme designed to enrich lives through creativity, spirituality and self-expression. Audiences can expect workshops, performances, music and masterclasses held at 32a Gerrard Street, London and led by extraordinary people with a passion for the Series’ aims.
