The Pureland Series at China Exchange seeks to promote awareness and change through cultural debate, performance and inspiration.
The series is designed to showcase the work of the Pureland Foundation, which supports charities and organisations committed to enriching lives through creativity, spirituality, emotional wellness and self-expression.
Audiences enjoy workshops, performances, music and masterclasses, led by extraordinary people with a passion for the Series’ aims. Recent speakers include actor and philanthropist Goldie Hawn and opera singer Joyce DiDonato.
China Exchange itself was set up in 2015 by entrepreneur Sir David Tang as a platform for cultural debate and the exchange of ideas between East and West.
Housed in the former BT Telephone Exchange at 32a Gerrard Street, in London’s Chinatown, and following an extensive renovation, China Exchange serves as a home for ideas, discussion, and creative expression that stimulate greater understanding of and curiosity about China’s impact on the world.
The Exchange has become noted for its high-calibre discussions led by individuals ranging from Gwyneth Paltrow to Lord Lloyd-Webber.
China Exchange was opened formally by Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on 19 February 2015 – celebrating Chinese New Year and the start of the year of the goat. HE Mr Liu Xiaoming, China’s Ambassador to the UK was in attendance.
